Light in Top Case?

I just bought a used BMW top box with central locking. However, my '17 RT doesn't have CL.

Does anyone know if I can get the interior light and/or brake light kit to work? Jury rigg it somehow?

Never mind, I found a couple of threads.

Excellent!

BTW, I am very impressed that you actually did your "due diligent" first by doing a thorough search of the forum to find the answer that you were looking for! Too many new comer to the forum have been either too lazy to do so, or didn't know how to do that. I knew that the data you were looking for was here in the forum, and as I said, I am very impressed that you had found it!

Now, if you have the optional brake light installed in that top box, and if you intend on adding the Clearwater lights to your RT, I would suggest that you hook up that brake light to the Clearwater's Canopenner module.

Thanks but I'm an old-timer that had to register again. I've got the Denali CANsmart with two sets of lights, horn and brake light. I never thought about using the CANsmart on the OEM top box brake light. Good idea, gives me something to ponder.

This morning I cut the top box cable, right about in the middle, and I'll make a quick disconnect. I also learned that if you touch the positive and negative ends of your home made wiring, you will blow a fuse under the seat.

That explains it! :)

Here are some data that you might find useful. This is wiring instruction of a Skene module, but you can use it for wiring ID reference of that plug of the top box: https://www.skenelights.com/k1600gt-gtl-p3-installation

I have the Clearwater lights on my RT, and the Canopener module have several aux. output, one of which is to make the brake light runs as running light as well as being programmable to modulate while braking. I know that you will use your Denali module, but the wiring diagram that Skene has will ID the hot wire for the brake light LED of your top box (grey/black/yellow):
