What does anyone think of the idea of contacting the motorcycling press to see if they'd be interested in either covering the event or, perhaps more likely, receiving a report with pictures? Motorcycle Sport & Leisure would be a good start, I'd think but I'm not sure if MCN would be interested in more than the odd paragraph.

What about the local paper, Cookie? Ours doesn't cover rallies as such but they do like motorcycle charity events so a whip-round for a local charity wouldn't cost us much and might get the rally and bikes in general some positive publicity.

I think a post event report would be better with a few pictures that any motorcycle press can cherry pick from, and then a donation to a local charity. That way we don't get into the worries about event insurance and the like. I think a charity local to where the event is being held is always looked on favorably by the locals, who are much more likeley to welcome you back again another time.

We just have to avoid fighting in the streets after dark, and racing up and down the main roads:rotf: :rotf:

I would go along with an 'after event' press release. We don't need the press to advertise this.
If people bring donated items for prizes for a raffle we could donate ticket money to the Welsh Air Ambulance - they pick us up if we go down. Or NABD - they sort us out if we want to keep riding after. Maybe a rep could be met and a local rag photographer contacted.

Rant mode on;
I hate the press - they get things wrong. The only reason this could be good is that bikers in Wales have got a very bad name for themselves. Mostly deserved. Some of the roads in Wales are used like race tracks and the police are coming down hard. This, of course, puts off the people who would be sensible bikers. This could be an opportunity to show there is a different kind of biking available.

Note to self: Ensure Guinness runs out at pub within the first hour
Note to self:- pre order pints of Guinness to be held back for Mike only to drink, thereby ensuring I don't have a Guinnless night in the pub.

Great idea about prizes, and I'm all for the Air Ambulance and NABD as people to give money too.
