System 7 helmet spoiler malfunction

My System 7 Carbon helmet is 8 months old. The mohawk-like appendage (officially known as a spoiler) is held in place by 3 plastic pins embedded in the helmet. Well 2 of the 3 pins have broken, allowing it to rotate on the intact one. Has anyone else had this problem?
I took it into the BMW dealer where I bought it. The service manager said he'd had a similar problem with another System 7 but hadn't been able to remove all the inner linings & bits to secure the new part from the inside. So he was assuming I'd get a new helmet. He forwarded the warranty claim for a new helmet to head office but they claim a new spoiler can in fact be fitted. So when the new part arrives I'm to take my helmet in and they'll have a go .... again!

Yes, I’ve had the same issue.
Was it easy to replace the spoiler?
No!
The BMW tech I took the helmet to told me he had tried to fit a spoiler to another System 7 helmet but couldn't do it. However BMW head office told him that the spoiler had its own part number and therefore must be able to be replaced. So he got the spoiler part, tried once again to fit it but once again couldn't. He reported back to the mother ship who then replaced the helmet.

It the helmet hadn't been under warranty I would have glued the old one back in place. The spoiler doesn't actually do anything, other than spoil.

I haven’t been struck by lightning once let alone twice and I’ve never won the lottery let alone twice. But that spoiler thingy on my System 7 helmet has come adrift again. I can’t think of anything I’m doing (no rough handling, no stowing in a confined space, no supersonic speeds) that has caused it but at the same time I can’t understand why it only seems to happen to me. Last time it happened BMW Australia replaced the helmet because it couldn’t be repaired. I don’t know how I’ll go this time.
