Hello, I'm new here. My 2010 RT just 10k miles and it have Brake Failure light on about month. I had google about the brake failure solution ( check front and rear sensor wires, brake light, changed brake pads and changed fluid both side) and has done all but the brake failure light still on. The brake failure light on when I start ride about 5 miles away from home when arrived my company I park there 8 hours and when I turn on the key to return home the brake failure light flashes like normal but when the bike run about 5 miles the brake failure light on again and stay there until I arrived home. And the brake failure light start to on after the bike run 5-6 miles everyday. I use GS 911 check the fault code and it showed (24048/24049 Power supply to motor fault and 24052 Electrical system under voltage). Could anyone experienced with this problems? Thanks

Make sure your battery connection is solid. Check for corroded negative terminal. You said you used a GS-911 to check the fault codes. Make sure you reset the fault codes as well.

I just replace the BMW original battery today and try to run test, the brake failure light flashes like normal but after 4-5miles the brake failure light on, I has try to stop the bike, turn off the key wait for 2 mins and start again, the brake failure continuous flashes like normal (????) I tried to ride slow to test the brake function... front and rear seem work normal and the brake failure on again ....  try to stop wait and start 2-3 times but the issue still happened. I did clear the fault code when brake failure light flashes, but when the light on I couldnt reset it because the fault still present

Check that the ABS sensor cables haven't rubbed against the rotor and worn through. It happened to me. Check the front left rotor. Look at the sensor cable and make sure it isn't resting against the rotor or that is has worn through from touching the rotor. There is a cable in the rear too...
Does your RT Brake Failure light flashes when first start and bright after few miles riding like my bike?

The "Brake Failure" light goes on when you first turn on the ignition, and stays on as long as you are not moving. This is because when first turned on the ABS system does not have any input from the ABS sensors. After you've rolled forward a few feet the light normally goes off. If it stays on longer than a couple of seconds after you start moving, or comes on after you've been riding, then something is wrong.

I know my RT's ABS system went wrong but there're no Motorad Dealer in my country and I must inspect myself.

I fixed the cable temporarily with electrical tape and repositioned it and since then I had it replaced under warranty. The brake failure light comes on when started and turns off after a few feet of travel. When I had the failure the brake failure light was on all the time and ABS and partial integral brakes were disabled.

I think Ponch is steering you in the right direction. It seems as if you have an issue with one of the ABS sensors. I would check the sensors to make sure they are tight, nothing is blocking them or somehow misaligned and there are no issues with the wires to the sensors.

I think he needs to check his ground lug on the alternator. Under voltage and electrical fault point to a loose connection in my opinion. His load shed relay connection could be loose also. The ABS uses a lot of current when it activates and is very sensitive to loose connections, bad batteries, or a bad alternator. Vietnam has very rough roads, increasing the chances of something vibrating loose.

For sure I will pull plastic out and check the ABS sensors with AC voltmeter to make sure both front and rear sensors still work. I has read the thread on BMWOA
http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?61389-Got-the-Dreaded-ABS-Red-Brake-Failure-Light-2007-R1200RT
This guys have same problem but I dont know how to ask him ( I will not spent money joining any forum)
I decide to send the ABS module to Module Master , Moscow with 250$ rebuilt + ship.

I highly doubt you need an ABS unit and if you did it would be covered under warranty.

You don't have to check the ABS cables for continuity, but for external damage. This really isn't that difficult.

I taped mine in the front and you can see how close it is. Now, you should take the other poster's advice on checking the battery and the connections. If the ABS unit is shot, call BMW and find out what you need to do as it should be covered under warranty, depending on when you bought it.

Thank for the advice but I bought my RT without warranty from unofficial dealer in Vietnam ( the bike from US and I think it under warranty in US), the nearesr Motorrad dealer is Bangkok, Thailand, it take 1,5k miles for 1 round :D :D . I used to came there but they said they just do warranty service for the bike they're selling.
For the battery check : I has been replaced the brand new OEM BMW Gel battery last week, and for the connection check today I will pull out the plastic and use the AC voltmeter to check the electrical of front, rear sensors for sure both are working before send the ABS module for rebuilt

One, BMWs warranty is transferable. It's doesn't matter if it's used or new. As long as you haven't tripped 3 years 36000 miles, it should be covered. Secondly, an authorized BMW dealer has to work on warranty issues for BMW bikes no matter if they were bought at the dealer or not. The only issue I can see is if the bike was stolen.

Yeah, If the bike in USA it like you said but I'm living in Vietnam and we dont have the official Motorad Dealer here, I had make a tour to Chiang Mai,Thailand (about 2k miles) and do service there, my RT get some problem with the engine sync and they advice me the replace the plugs, I know my bike still under warranty because the ODO just 8k miles but I has to pay for 4 plugs replaced. My RT have full import documents (required to do registration in my country and it have 2 keys and 1 plastic key) so it's not a stolen bike :p

I did asked the BMW Motorrad Chiang Mai,Thailand and they said they wont accept my bike, just like an official BMW Auto Dealer in Vietnam, any BMW cars purchased from unofficial dealer , they will not allowed these cars do service or warranty except if these owner paid among fee $3-5k, I dont remember because I'm the owner of BMW car neither.
Just pullout plastic today and using AC voltmeter to test the front and rear sensors it showed
same range, I think the sensors still working
