Yes it is interesting,but.......
Why do so many people think that these are cash cows.
There are rules to the road some of them being speed limits.
So why should anybody get upset for getting a fine while driving over the speed limit.
All the arguments are nothing but justification.
All the complaining comes from anarchists not getting their way. Plain and simple.

Uh ... bullshit. You are wrong.

They are cash cows. Cops won't admit it, but there are many subtle pressures to enhance enforcement during periods of economic downturns.

Proof? Google: "speeding" and "recession".

I understand public employee's concern for their jobs. And pensions. Their careers exist entirely but for the grace of the taxpayer. But when times are really tough, and there are six applicants for every private sector job, and some of us spent the past 15 months unemployed (with a master's degree in engineering) -- I say SCREW THEM. HARD.

Fight back. It's your money vs theirs. They have better benefits than you. You pay their salaries. They have a union.

For some folks that have SmartPhones here's a site that helps with speed traps, red light cameras and other such traffice slow downs. I'm not advocating any of the above, but it can help keep you out of trouble. I found it interesting that some city police departmentss ARE posting their own speed traps.

I live in rolling meadows, il, where for no "known" reason the speed drops from 40/45 mph on IL 62 (Algonquin Road) at the city line.

Yes, they make a large number of speed stops there.

There is no reason for the speed limit change. Nobody died. No schools are there or nearby. Its just done for money.

Its like the "Red Light Cameras". They were not put up there to prevent accidents - the opposite is usually true. They are just there to augment the budget.

That site is ok, but if you ride often to lots of places all over the county, what are you going to do?... look up everywhere you think that you are going and try to write down all of the possible traps?

The real solution to the problem is to NOT SPEED. Most if not all local police, sheriff or state police will give you 3 to 5 miles over (some more). I do run a radar detector on the bike just for piece of mind & have NEVER had a speeding ticket on the bike.

Let's be pragmatic, do the speed limit next time you are on the road and see what happens! If this was the wild west you would be shot! I have actually TRIED doing the speed limit for one week and it was NOT fun

Here in Chattanooga we have the little sneaks from the Chattanooga PD that sit around in these white Ford vans spying on you and then taking your picture then a fine in the mail, kinda chicken-%$# if you ask me. I haven't been ticketed, but I pass them all of the time.

Most speed traps AREN'T about safety, but REVENUE!!!!!

The new Escort 9500cxi has GPS enabled red light camera detection built in. You download off the internet as they go up.

Still torn on it, in one way it is a man less way to catch habitual abusers, but I also think it skitzes people out once they know it is there and nothing is worse then an over conscious driver.

Speeding, well 55 is VERY slow where I live and we have to get pretty far urban to get 65, just too slow. I set cruise at 63 and get 52 MPG so that is where I live at in a 55 MPH zone. At 65 I am usually 72 or so. Yes I am speeding but it is my riding style and the bike likes it there.

Not sure how you could lie about a picture of you going through a red light. And as far as facing your accuser you are, a photo.

I never speed. Just ask anyone who has ridden with me. All you speeders should be executed, at once! You are bad, evil people.
