Good evening/aft everyone

Looking for the 2 cents from those in the know.

I just discovered my rear trans output shaft seal is leaking into the swingarm/FD unit. I dont have time to repair myself due to 10+ hour shifts and I am suppose to go away before I can get into service. Is this advisable to take bike or not chance it. experienced tech thinks so as long as I am not pumping out fluid. I can't get it in the shop till next month. (04LT).

As they say #$%@ happens!

I would appreciate all opinions. Thanks in advance.

Still very glad I have it!

I rode my LT for two years with a leaking pinion seal. It wasn't until I got tired of cleaning it up once a week and started getting a drip or two on my garage floor that I finally had it fixed. If a slow leak, no problem riding it.

No need to spend $19.00 for the BMW specific seal. When mine needed to be replaced I used one of these

It is a "SKF" brand seal. Part number 9725. Costs $4.00 and change at the local bearing and seal store. That was thousands of miles ago.

Not that hard of a job to do. Drag your laptop out to the garage, dial up the Illinois BMW Club video and do it step by step. When you're done, and you're proud of yourself for doing this...send the Illinois guys $10.00 for the great video!

I don't have an issue with that one. But if some one is making money on it I guess I should protest to YouTube like the Illinois BMW club did with all their videos. All BMWLT members have free access to post and cross post anything I put here.
