Try a Russell Day Long if you are serious about long distance. You won't regret it, at least I know I don't! :D
Interestingly enough most of my long distance trips are two-up and my wife also loves her RDL seat... Happy wife = Happy life!

Talked to Bill "Rocky" Mayer yesterday, Rick's older brother. Rocky still makes saddles.

Rick is out of business and in some legal trouble as a result.

Leather is more maintenance. I know I'm lazy and I got my seat done in the vinyl. I have ridden in some pretty warm weather and have been fine and it looks great, the quality of materials is excellent. The choice is yours. A good choice might be to do leather on top and vinyl on the sides. I must say the money I spent on a custom seat is the best money I have EVER spent on any motorcycle. My arse is no longer the deciding factor when to get off the bike, now it's my bladder or an empty gas tank.

I used my Rick Saddle go from Wisconsin to Vermont and back and from Wisconsin to Oregon and back on RTs. It did very well No sore butt.

But now that Rick has closed down I will try Rocky.

I got a Rick Mayer seat Last year. it took a long time to get it here. I would have missed the entire riding season if I had not bought a saddle from Beemer Boneyard. The saddle from Rick is ok. after 1500 miles I put my Airhawk back on. I wish I had just bought the Airhawk first. i would have saved a lot of money.

I have heard good things about Russell saddles.

Happy riding.

Got one on my 2013 RT - it's wonderful to my butt. But, not everyone want the same sort of seat. I have a Corbin on my Triumph Tiger, and that seat was significantly "firmer". Not bad, just firmer. There are some who like a really soft seat. I am not one of them. I like firmness without any pressure points. The Mayer seat is perfect. However, if someone wants a fairly soft seat, there are probably others more appropriate.
