No the Battery tray can stay in situ. You will need to remove the module for the reverse drive though. A few fasteners and sadly you need to remove the cables to it. There's a big earth and also a live that goes straight to the battery.

You will need to un-clip a lot of the cable ties as the wires get in the way but it can be done... Once the abs hard lines are out just wiggle it upwards and the 4 pegs will come out of the rubber bushes in the tray. The ABS unit stays in its carrier that fold the top hard line

Take the batter out as it will give you more hand room. I also removed the fixing at the front of the battery tray as that allowed one of the hard lines more movement.

Ok my ABS pump is now back with me all repaired and new looking. BBA Reman have corrected the two issues they found with the unit and have sent it me back for a combined cost that includes the VAT at 20% and the return postage ...

That cost was ÂŁ240

Ive got to put it back in and checks its all OK but I'm very happy with that kind of cost.....

Ill keep you appraised as it moves along.

For anyone who wants their details they are BBA Reman in the UK based in Rochester Kent and their contact details are 01634 687222

They have a global presence and so if you need them go to Home (GB) | BBA Reman

Looking forward to a good report from you. That was a great price ($311 US). Our cost would be higher with shipping from the states but I think this beats the other guys in Germany.

This week i've disassembled my abs unit, there was one bolt that i had to remove with grip pliers. I'am goining to replace the special bolts with allan ones.

Now i am looking for the new o-rings and oil seals. For what i know now is EPDM the best rubber that is compatible with brake fluid.

For the O-rings i've measurerd :

- O-ring @ bottom and top of the motor : cord diameter is 2 mm innerdiameter 38.8 mm (4x needed) (1 in pic)
- O-ring @ bottom of soliniode : cord diameter is 2 mm innerdiameter 32.9 mm (2x needed) (2 in pic)
- O-ring @ bottom of ceramicpump : cord dia 1.5 mm inner diameter 8 mm (4x needed) (3 in pic)

- oil seal on shaft of motor : dia shaft is 5 mm dia housing 15 mm height is 5 or 6 mm

i'am having dificulties in finding the oil seals in EPDM. If anyone knows where and how, please leave a message.

Thanks

check out the O-ring store: https://www.theoringstore.com They have a really large selection of O-rings in all kinds of sizes in EPDM. They stock full sizes of metric - so you wont find a 38.8mm; but they will have a 39mm which I imagine is close enough: +0.2mm. I sourced larger O-rings for the oil filter on my K12RS to stop a leak due to either the cover or pan being off a bit.

The website is easy to use. Probably not the cheapest place, but they will very likely have what you need.

Awaiting the price for the seals of the abs unit, i wonder what is the right way of filling and bleeding the abs unit (assuming i can built it in again). Does anyone knows the procedure for that? Thanks in advance
The procedure is described in the BMW service manual (actually CD-ROM) and there used to be a pdf on this site that walked through the process pretty well. Not sure if that file still exists after the site revamp as I know several things seemed to get lost.

I can no longer find the file that I downloaded many years ago, but this one should help you. https://www.bmwlt.com/forums/attach...es/84394d1436402795-notes-changing-brake-lines-lt-changing-brake-lines-rev4.pdf

They have locations in the US at well. I did speak to them and said they may find they get very busy once news is out.

I'm sure many bikes have been parted out because of this issue

I'm going to be fitting this over the next week or so

Thanks for sharing this info, It is very interesting, I currently may have ABS pump failure also, My left hand caliper seals went and I was luckily just stopping for fuel off the motorway when I felt the brake lever going a little soft, The abs warning started to flash and I managed to stop and after having a look around the bike noticed that there was brake fluid on the caliper and pipe fittings. I have stainless lines fitted so I am hoping that once I get the calipers refurbished I can bleed the system and all will be OK. If not then it looks like a phone call to this company for an ABS refurb. The cost seems quite reasonable. My bike is 2005 so should be same system. I would prefer to keep the servo system on the bike if possible.

If you lost fluid and the lights were flashing alternately, it may have just been low fluid level due to the caliper seal leak. If so you should be alright once you get it back together.

I hope you are correct about it being just low fluid levels. I am still waiting for the refurbished calipers to be returned.
But the good thing being able to get the servo unit refurbished at a reasonable cost if required. Hope to have it all back together some point next week.

there's an outfit in Moscow Idaho that does this repair now for lt pumps. I was going to send mine in but turns out it was a bad wiring harness. may I suggest you mess with the wiring harness near where it attaches to the frame above it. I removed the tiewraps jiggled the wires and low and behold the veer noise started right up when I squeezed the lever. not saying it isn't the pump but mine wasn't! thought it was but then, I was mistaken. I'll see if I can find the reply I got from them but google abs pump Moscow, id and it should come up. slightly cheaper than Germany and less shipping if you use uspl flate rate box. I did mention it in a post on here a year back too. https://modulemaster.com/rebuilds/shop/brakes/abs-modules/abs-fte-abs3/ appears they aren't doing it yet. maybe a call.
