BMW is working on the AM issue with my dealer and has given them a new part to order which has been done. Coming from Germany so once I get that installed maybe late this week I’ll do a post on AM radio reception, if it resolves the issue.Darrell - thanks for the follow up and persistence - will contact my dealer to get resolution!

That's good to hear. Unlike my dealer who just shrugged about AM reception. BTW: Looking up the part number (65 21 8 521 436), that XM antenna looks like the one that's been in the K1600 for some time now.BMW is working on the AM issue with my dealer and has given them a new part to order which has been done. Darrell,In the nearly 100 miles of riding after picking up the bike I only lost service twice, once pulling in to my garage and other time stopped at a traffic light on the north side of a tall building (as I would expect) otherwise it worked perfect and as good as the receiver I had installed on the top box until BMW could resolve the issue.
The BMW part number of the new puck is 65 21 8 521 436.
I think the wiring harness is prewired with an SDARS cable. There is a connection just behind the dash. I thinks. How long is that cable? Looks really short
The replacement puck is mounted exactly were the original one was in the dash in front of the TFT screen. The wire is about 8" long on the new puck but shorter then the original puck. The mechanic who did the warranty replacement told me there is enough spare wire in the harness to easily make the connection to the new puck.Darrell,
Two questions...
Where did they mount the puck?

Thank you for sharing this. I've been using an aftermarket SiriusXM antenna and was planning to replace the stock antenna with my unit in the stock location.Instead of adding on to multiple threads commenting on XM radio issues on the 2021 - 2022 RT models I decided to start a new one. Moderators can combine if they wish.
During my 12,000 miles service on a 2022 RT my dealer, Moon Motorsports in Monticello, MN installed a new receiver puck BMW requested they order to resolve my issues of broken XM reception. The puck replaced the one that came on a bike that was assembled in late January 2022.

What does the stock antenna from a 2021 look like? Is it a round puck or a square one?Update on reception. Temps reached into the 50’s today so got a 150 mile ride in. The XM radio worked perfectly. I stopped to visit with the mechanic who installed my warranty puck. He had never had a reason to check what came with our 2021 and 2022 bikes but said once he saw what BMW used for the XM receiver he was not surprised it did not work.
As SvFiat shared with us and confirmed by the mechanic the replacement puck is exactly what has been used on the K1600 series bikes since 2012.
Each owner having XM receiving issues has to make their own decision but I do not see any reason why you would not insist your dealer order the replacement attenna and have them install in the original spot of the one being removed. If you bought a receiver like SvFiat I’d ask the dealer to submit a requiest BMW reimburse you and install the one you bought in the proper place.
The replacement AM attenna has not arrived so no update on that situation of no reception.
The OEM one replaced on the 2022 model bike was a square one. I did not actually see it so reply is based on mechanics description. What does the stock antenna from a 2021 look like? Is it a round puck or a square one?
Sorry for the late reply. Here is the exact response from my mechanic. Thanks Darrell. Does this round puck fit under the 2022 R1250RT's triangular shaped antenna cover? It looks way to big to fit under the stock Sat. antenna cover.
Any news on the AM antenna replacement?Sorry for the late reply. Here is the exact response from my mechanic.
”Yes, it fits in the dash mount. Take the top off the mushroom and pry the old one off. Just have to reroute the wire on harness side.”
The dealer has not called the antenna has arrived yet so no news. I'll ride up to the dealer next week and get some feedback on timing. Thanks for asking. I'm so happy the XM is working I actually forgot about the AM.Any news on the AM antenna replacement?
My local dealership notified me today that the new replacement antenna from BMW is in. They are replacing the old XM antenna on my bike with the new one next Thursday. I hope that solves the problem of no reception when the wind screen is raised. Others here and on other blogs are indicating that it completely solved the problem. Probably the previous lesser antenna it was affected much more significantly by the brackets in the windscreen than the new round disk shaped antenna.Sorry for the late reply.
