I know the Givi looks fine I was hoping for central locking
I have central locking, including for my 49L, Mars Red (matching) top box. How many times will you open and close it? Central locking to me is kind of a gimmick, anyhow. After all, it's not like your driving a minivan and have to run around and lock all the doors and windows. Either I'm opening, unlocking, and locking all three cases (1 top, 2 side cases), e.g. as if I'm traveling and removing/replacing luggage, or I'm opening one case, e.g. to put my helmet and jacket inside. 99% of the time, I put my "purse stuff" inside a magnetic lock tank back, which DOES NOT have central locking, and or goes on or off with me, the rider. Everything else is either left behind before I leave home, or remains locked.
YMMV (e.g. "your mileage may vary", as in "to each their own", but $1500 is a lot to pay for one of those 49L top cases, and I haven't seen a used one under $1000.
However, be aware that the older style 49L top boxes (i.e. for the 2005-2013 RT's, yeah, manual locking) do, in fact, fit the WetheadsHowever, be aware that the older style 49L top boxes (i.e. for the 2005-2013 RT's, yeah, manual locking) do, in fact, fit the Wetheads (at least, I've read that several times, but test it before you buy). I've seen those for as long as $250. They'll uniformly be silver, unless the prior owner took it to a paint shop.
I got my 49L case thrown in with the sale for $1000, which was more than I wanted to spend, but 1/3 off retail, so I jumped at the opportunity. I would have been looking for the older generation case (which I had on my older 2005 RT), and been happy to get it for the cost savings, if I was faced with paying retail for one of those central locking 49L thingys. I have no problems with the GIVI top case, except I've always hated the style. SHAD makes a top case for the RT's, and I read somewhere that SHAD made BMW's top cases, or at least used to do so, so that their own look and behave similarly to BMW's OEM top cases.
I believe that SHAD makes a case that fits the BMW OEM bracket, or maybe they have a bracket /adapter for their case to fit BMW's bracket.
The two links I provided provide a wealth of useful information, including how to rekey the lock to fit the rest of your bike's keys (i.e. first link). Good luck with your search.
