On the older forum I mentioned that my windshield had distortion around the edges.

I also have lots of annoying circles and swirls of color (EXCEPT in the middle where it’s clear) when wearing “polarized sunglasses” and in bright sunlight.
Is this normal or a know problem for the LTs?

I am planning to take the bike to the dealer this weekend (50+miles away) to see if the warranty covers this, but I wanted to get some opinions before I did that.

Am I overreacting? Any ideas?
I may attempt to get a picture next time the Sun is out.

With polarized glasses you will get swirls of color (kind of a rainbow effect. I have the same problem and I wear polarized sun glasses. I too have a little distortion around the edges of the windshield.

It's more the a little....

I don't get this on my Wing or Concurs. It is starting to get to me. If I don't get a new windshield, I will replace it myself since it is so distracting.

You know, come to think about it I have more rainbow on my LT than I did on my Harley. I am not real happy with the windshield on the LT. I see from reading posts on this site that a lot of riders are going to aftermarket windshields. It's a shame that we have to put on aftermarket parts to make the bike the way it should be. I am not very happy with the seat and will be going to a different seat as well as the rear brakes be noisy.

This is the polarization effect of the bent glass/plastic.
I don't think a new windshield if it's curved will change that...

Go look through some other windshields that are as thick/bent as the LT...

See if they don't all do it.... You might try some non polarized sunglasses...

Good luck

I wear polarized glasses as well. I have a little uneven plastic but not much. I am pretty sure the swirls you see are uneven rolls in the plastic.

I remember reading a thread that stated that the OEM windshield was made in Europe and suffers many defects. They also said dealers were replacing with ones made in USA.

I would take my glasses down to a dealer and stroll the floor and check the other screens and compare to yours. Especially in the service area, where there always seems to be several LT's parked for some kind of service.

The OEM windscreen on the LT is polycarbonate, and as such when viewed through polarized lenses you see the internal stress patterns which give polycarbonate its superior strength and ability to withstand fracture. Polycarbonate is molded, not formed as acrylic is.

Inferior polycarbonate, made from resin that has acrylic or other plastics added for cost savings, may not show the rainbows. That's because it is not as strong and will fracture when bent or hit.

The same thing can be seen in quality laminated glass.
