On the RT Series forum there's a thread on where's the best place to hide a spare key. Seems like a good thread for the LT forum. I keep a spare key zip tied behind one of the mirrors. Just pop the mirror off to get to it. No one trying to steal the bike would ever think to look there

Well than.....now the whole world knows where you keep your key...Hmmmmm
Good point... if someone on the forum wants to hunt me down to steal my bike I guess I've really screwed  Just in case, I think I will change the location where I hide my spare key. I'm going to put it under the other mirror :histerica

I've never heard of an LT being stolen. Maybe an insurance company can chime in....

I kept a spare key taped (black electricians tape) to the underside of the gas cap cover. Even open, it was almost invisible. Never needed it.

I"m not sure if y'all have notied, but with a little convincing, you can unlatch the seat by reaching down and pulling the latch...I've gorilla taped a key under the passenger seat, with a spare fob in one of the side paniers...

When I bought my LT a spare key was found under the license plate when they took the previous owners plate off.

I don't have a spare key hidden on my current LT but I do carry two keys in my pocket when I am riding more than just back and forth from the house on any given day. On my first LT I found a spare key when I changed my headlight bulb for the first time. It was taped to the cover. I thought that was a pretty good idea and just left it there but never needed it.

A spare key is a very good idea,I have one hidden on my bike,I remember the absolute panic when my Ducati riding friend lost his 2000 plus klm from home,we were hours from boarding a boat and to miss it would have been a disaster, we spent hours searching the grounds of a historic house to find it was in his jacket,it had gone through a hole in a pocket,I was surprised when the other bike with us said he had no spare key either.

Spare in wallet for both my bike and wifes bike. Additional spare ty-wrapped to left front turnsignal bulb wire. Spare for wifes in left rear turnsignal. Two more spares in wife's wallet (one for each bike). One more spare each at home. I think that covers any eventuality. These do not count the actual key in use for either bike.

Robert (Gee, do you think I had a problem once?)

I was going to put a spare key on top of the visor  , but then I read about this. That's where I've had it for some time.

I also hid my key...but I cant remember where? :rotf:

Seriously, when on an extended trip I always keep a spare in my denim shorts pocket under my riding pants...just in case I drop my keep into the black hole upon retrieving it...which may or may not have happened once. ;)
