Where and how to mount a phone R1250RT 2021

18395 Views 62 Replies 29 Participants Last post by  wspollack
With the frustrations over the TFT and the mapping, I have been trying unsuccessfully to mount my phone so I can follow the Tourstart navigation on it.

with the SOS button there does not seem enough room on the bars, and the wonderful Quadlock system, which fits in the fork stem does not fit the new 1250RT (I bought one, and it doesn't. )

There is a prefect bit of real estate right above the screen, but no easy way to fix it in place. (Gaffa tape would look obscene on this beauty)

Can anyone point me to a solution I can get in the UK that works please?

Looking at RAM mounts, but I have no experience of what works.

Hey Dave,

I know your post below is from some time ago, but this is definitely the cleanest mount that I've seen for the BMW. I recently purchased a 2022 BMW R1250RT and want to install a ram ball, but not having any luck finding the clutch perch bracket in your photo below. Would you have a link or the vendor you used to purchase? I'm in Canada and have the same driving lights switch as yourself.

Thanks in advance!

Craig

I ordered the clutch perch clamp off a GSA to replace the RT one ...then I screwed a 10x1.5 thread RAM Ball into the mirror mount on it - VERY CLEAN INSTALL.
Can do the same on the right side...

Be aware that the clutch side has two versions - one has the screw hole to hold on the switch for the driving lights (in USA anyway - unsure in other markets)

EDITED TO ADD PICS
BMW p/n 32728534366
BMW p/n 32728534366
Thanks for the input! Searching availability now.
If anyone's looking for the right side also (good place for radar detector), P/N is 32728532971, at least for the '22 RT.

Bob's BMW had both in stock when I ordered a few months ago.

On the BMW website, I've found P/N 3272542295 which has the threaded hole on top to allow for the ram ball, but this part does not have the extra screw for the driving lights switch to be attached. Also found P/N 32728534367 which has the extra screw for the driving lights switch but does not have the threaded hole on top to mount the ram ball? The number that dpickens provided above came back that it wouldn't fit my bike according to BWM Motorrad nor does it seem to have the extra screw hole to mount the driving lights. Part must be available as eplerd shows it in his original post.

.
BMW part # 32728534366 pipe clamp left
BMW part # 32728532971 pipe clamp right

I mounted mirrors using these parts and have the OEM driving lights

Don't think that there were any significant changes to the 2022 RT switch gear such that it wouldn't fit. Most likely it's that Motorrad hasn't updated their website to show that it will actually fit. Some of these smaller parts take as long as a year (and few months beyond that even) to get updated as to fitment. This is exactly what happened with my 2021 RT... BMW Website... "Won't fit."... BMW Dealer... "{sigh} yes it does..."

Recommend calling Bob's BMW (301) 497-8949 and getting the real scoop -
BMW part # 32728534366 pipe clamp left
BMW part # 32728532971 pipe clamp right

I mounted mirrors using these parts and have the OEM driving lights
Both of these are the part No's I ordered for my '22. They worked great and yes, had the screw for the aux lights. Remember these are part numbers for a GS not an RT, so maybe that's why they're saying they don't fit the RT.

Good point!
Thanks for the input guys, very helpful!!

I'll reach out to my dealer today to order them.
Mishap with the screen protector?
It's the original one that came on it from the factory :) I will get around to peeling it off soon

What USB plug is that, a Hella plug to USB output?

Yes — got it on Amazon several years back. Used it on my Ducati Multi too

I have a 2021 R1250RT and have RAM ball mount on the center fork slot. Just pop off the BMW logo to expose.

Was that the 32728534366 (Clutch) & 32728358420 (Brake)? I have a 2022 R1250RT but these numbers are for a 2020 GSA but look like they are the same and I have AUX lights & SOS. I have not found a part number for these on the 2022 RT yet to verify. They don't show up for the RT but are indeed compatible.
