Hi,

Looking at the front of the bike under the headlight and behind the front tire I see what looks like a small shock absorber (the kind used to keep the hood of the car up). Part of it is sticking out.

What is the function of this shock absorber? Is it to kill the engine in case of a frontal collission ?

What does "Tank slapper" mean ?

And how does the shock which does not touch anything (in the front) do anything?
