Unboxed my new (to me) slip-on. Not even a smudge on it, looks brand new.

If it's any consolation, you are not aloneIm SO SO resisting doing this..
Yep, that's EXACTLY like the story I'd tell MY wife, to justify dumping a thousand bucks into a bike that doesn't really need it. Good luck with that. All us guys who are husbands, are fightin' for ya in your corner!! 🤣🤣🤣I wasn't planning on buying headers, but I found too good of a deal to pass up on. My dealer wanted $1855 (CAD) for them. I found a brand new set on FortNine for $811 (CAD). It was their last one in stock. I have absolutely no idea why they would blow them out at over $1000 under MSRP, but I snagged them up quick. I figure if I don't like them, I could probably sell them and still get my money back.
I've been chatting with another member here who has them and he gave me positive feedback. He said he ran the full system (headers + slip-on) with the stock ECU flash and it ran fine. He said that when he got the BT Moto stage 1 tune, it really smoothed it out.
Once it warms up here I'm going to install the headers with the stock slip-on to see how it sounds. Then I'm going to put on the Akra slip-on and see what difference that makes. If I'm happy with the sound, I'm going to get the stage 1 ECU flash.
I didn't plan on doing an exhaust on this bike, but I can't help myself. I like modifying...lol
Thank you for the suggestion. I did look into that product briefly a little while back. From what I remember, it basically just tricks to ECU to add more fuel to the mixture?Nice headers!!
You may want to check out the RapidBike tuners, I have the Easy kit on my RnineT and it really smoothed out the motor and it runs richer.
Dang guys, just buy a K bike if ya need all that much power. I think you're over thinking your RT tuning. 😏Thank you for the suggestion. I did look into that product briefly a little while back. From what I remember, it basically just tricks to ECU to add more fuel to the mixture?
I ran a RapidBike Evo on my Ducati Supersport for a short period of time a few years ago. I wasn't very happy with the product. I had a check engine light from it which RapidBike wasn't able to help me resolve. I ended up removing it and shipping my ECU away to be reflashed, which resulted in what felt like a better tune according to my butt dyno.
I always prefer an ECU flash over a piggyback for several reasons. There's a lot more set points they can adjust. It's a cleaner install as you don't have an extra module or wires that you have to add. I believe a reflash is more responsive as it completely rewrites the mapping, timing, setpoints, etc; whereas the piggyback has to read the sensors and change the values to trick the ECU's to alter it's AFR.
Here are the claims for BT Moto's Stage 1 Flash:
They also have dyno graphs showing significant power/torque gains when combined with a full exhaust. I believe it was 8WHP and 6 ft-lbs of torque. If you go up to the stage 2 with the velocity stacks, they picked up 13WHP and 11 ft-lbs of torque. I don't have any plans to do the stage 2 at this time. I'm not really on the hunt for power gains, just want to make sure my bike is running at optimal AFRs and timing after doing the exhaust.
- Power and torque gains due to unrestricted throttle and removal of limiters, in each gear
- Exhaust valve adjustments for best sound and maximum torque and horesepower
- Lower fan-on temperatures
- Smoothing of part throttle and low RPM rideability to combat bucking and jerking with proper fueling
- Removed top speed limiter (125mph)
- Reshaped torque model for more power at all RPM's, part or full-throttle
- Ignition timing optimized for every fuel
- Full-throttle limiters for 80% at low rpm to 100% for instant response
- Updated engine braking in all modes
- Cold and warm start issues eliminated
- Removal of known flat spots in the RPM range
- Rev-limit adjusted for max acceleration
- Lambda limiters adjusted for maximum power
- Software adaptation to for multiple fuels

Kind of reminds me of back when were kids, trying to get a few more HP out of our little Hodaka 100 dirt bikes. This ain't that. You've got something like 140 HP under that BMW seat, plenty to get ya were you're going in any style ya want. 😁🏆

True, but like I mentioned, I'm not doing it for HP gains. The tune will richen the air fuel mixture to make up for the additional flow from the headers. From my understanding, these bikes are tuned fairly lean to meet emissions.Dang guys, just buy a K bike if ya need all that much power. I think you're over thinking your RT tuning. 😏

what bike did it come off of, BOS doesnt have for rtGreat looking exhaust @Audi403, look forward to seeing a pic of it on your bike!
The one thing I really didn't like about my WC RT was the stock chrome exhaust "slip on". I picked up a preowned BOS that is internally adjustable with a manual valve from quieter than stock to louder. I tend to leave it open and you do get a slight pop shifting up with some throttle. This BOS system is not lightweight like the Ti Akra on my 9T or Ti Remus I had on my last RT but frankly not sure it really needs to be, it's an RT after all and a lb here or there doesn't make much difference.

Well, they are tuned leaner than optimal HP or optimal LbsFt (two different values)...but not "leaner" than correct safe operation requires.True, but like I mentioned, I'm not doing it for HP gains. I was doing the same search last night too..what bike did it come off of, BOS doesnt have for rt

It was off another R12RT, perhaps they quit building them for it though...I was doing the same search last night too..
Any chance you have a video posted from the rear cam position? I'm curious what the field of view is from there. Thanks.I moved my rear camera from the license plate to spot on the tail that doesn't bounce all over the place and the video quality has much improved.
