I have been doing an ABS delete after battling with it for long enough. Shieldsy67 supplied me with his spare by-pass kit so the fun began.

It's crazy that I can now strip the bike down to this state in just on one hour. I'm starting to treat it as a competition to see if I can better my time.

This useless lump weighs 5 KGS. Not too easy to get out from between the frame rails, It took me almost as much time as it did to strip the bike.

I pulled the blue relay to disarm the ABS brake fail light but the warning triangle still went off like a frog in a sock. I had to clip the brown red wire for pin 9 in the ABS plug and that put an end to the flashing.

Rear by-pass tube in place and blead. Went pretty easy. The front circuit is also plumbed up and I will be bleeding that tomorrow, I need some new tubing for my vacuum bleeder. I have always had a problem with the front lever where if you pull it in while bleeding the circuit it doesn't want to spring back out. It's fine once you get it blead but it would take way too long to do it just by the lever.

No more martini's with the bike. I guess I'll just keep the funnel as a souvenir.

I'm looking forwards to riding the LT without the anxiety of ABS failure.

I repaired the speedometer feedback wire that was put on at the factory to tight at brake upper mount zip tie. Now I will have cruise control and other features on the ECU feedback, Thanks to all here for the posts to fix. Easiest troubleshooting ever. Next will be brake lines they look original. Any part numbers to share? Then rear speakers front are fine but back crackle bad even with fade to front.
Go with Spiegler brake line kit from sources like SportBikeTrackGear.com Look HERE

Hey Wazza, you could always mount the funnel on your handlebars and call it a new technology "radar detector"!

Had my first ride ABS-less the other day.Worked fine.I'm sure I'll have to pay a bit more attention in the rain after riding the Wing with linked ABS for years.Pretty sure I can handle it.

99+% of the time ABS is just added weight. However, those few times you need it, you really need it and there is no substitute. No human can react as fast as ABS.

You're preaching to the choir.I was wrenching for a living when RWAL and ABS got started and have worked on numerous different systems.Always been a fan.My self like a lot of others thought I'd never likely activate it on my Wing but 2 weeks after I bought the bike.it got tested and saved mine and my sons ass.I would've never gotten rid of it on the LT but I didn't want to chase parts all summer. If ModuleMasters would have even talked to me with a timeline I would've sent them the module but they won't.I can however re-install the module and lines if something does come available. As it stands I already have twice as much into it as it's worth.

I put a lot of thought into what I did when I removed mine. I didn't really want to do it but a new unit for $4,000 wasn't going to be attractive. I can probably fix my old unit myself but at the end of the day these ABS units have always been a ticking timebomb. You never know if or when you will suddenly find your self hours away from home and at what altitude. I had mine fail at the top of a mountain one day. The thought of getting that bike back down was not a good thought. I got lucky that day. For me the choice became clear. Persist with a brake system that suddenly doesn't work or go to a simple system that I need to be bit more careful with but will never let me down.

Believe me I didn't want it gone because here I can't sell it now.But I didn't want a useless 900 lb lump sitting in my garage either.Wasn't my first choice but it is what it is.

Got some goodridge brake lines from Motorworks in the UK. Only took a week to arrive down here in Australia with fedex. Installation was straightforward with all required hardware. Took me about 8 hours but that was with coffee breaks, lunch and a few work calls and emails. My 2003 had original BMW brake lines fitted. Out of interest I cut one in half - doesn’t look too good !

Original 2001 radio but rear speakers shot. Removed all the screws in the trunk and top luggage mount(didnt have to do all that) Now the original system rocks through the front only. Going to order new rears and replace them.

Usually it is the amps in the radio that go out rather than the speakers, but here's hope for your success.

Removed windshield to try to fix left upper arm as it’s snapped and found out it’s wrapped in holo aluminum so took it out, flattened the surface and rewrapped and zip tied , will Jb weld or strong silicon keep it held in position? I’m waiting for wife to come home so I can take her car and go glue/weld shopping.

I didn't do anything to my LT except take it for a short ride.... and it's finally hit another milestone (kilometrestone?) by reaching 120,000km.
Purchased new in September 2005 (built in 2004) so I've owned it for almost 17 years... with hopefully many more left in her! 😁
