Have a 08 RT purchased about 8 years ago. Am at the twilight of my riding years, as well as over all. When young, would have neve buy a boxer, but always liked the beemers. R60 was my first love of bikes. Never had the chance. and as young. never looked at one. Those days are way gone, and here i am with my RT. Done some work on this babe, to suit me: Lowered suspension, front and back, TracTive ESA from Ted Porter. More than happy with his support! Lets not forget, lowering the bike means lowering both of the stands! Did that, cut some of the center stand as well the side stand. Having shorter legs than average, had to lower the seat, as well. Found a extra low bench seat, that i have modified extensively. Love it now, has memory foam and is like molded to my physique! Mind you, no heated seat, as i find that to be a nonsense. Same with heated grips. You need the heat on the outside of your hand, not inside! Wanted to replace them ugly OEM grips, but there was no option other than factory. So went thru some modifying, and now i have some gorgeous Rizoma grips on the bike. HID head light low beam, LED HI beam. LED rear position//brake Skene conspicuity (yes, the amber light has been on for some years now!) For the difference in light brightens, i prefer to have the amber light on. Wunderlich adjustable brake and clutch leavers. Front fender extender, Heed engine guards. Always heated the burned chromed headers on BMW bikes, so ceramic coated mine. Since i was there, and the muffler, chromed, was all damaged from battery leakage, ceramic coated that as well. Added a Garmin GPS and Innovv dash cam., am sure the bike is up to my standard!

Sure is a good looking bike. Nice seats, and the "Mikey Mouse ears" mirrors are a good addition. The factory mirrors are useless, JMHO.
Windsor, Ontario here. Done Nova Scotia few years back. Cabot trail is a nice ride.

Thanks. I had heard the factory mirrors are shite. I haven't had much chance to try them as i bought the bike in near freezing temps. I had to replace the left one as the PO dropped the bike and there are a few things to sort out on that side. I bought the chinese mirrors which may have been a mistake. Time will tell. IT's the only bike i've ever had with 4 mirrors. Most of mine are lucky to have two. The Cabot trail is quite nice. Next time you can try it in the opposite direction and try the 'Little' Cabot Trail around Advocate Harbour. Cheers!
The mirrors in the picture look like the ones on BMW GS.I had a set of those, and funny enough, bought a Chinese set that i like better. Did the Cabot trail counter clockwise. Went to Sydney, then crossed from there. Lots of dirt roads, but fun. Back to Halifax, clockwise along the coast of NS and crossed at Digby by ferry. Wish i knew about the Little Cabot Trail.

Unfortunately, never completed the desire to ride in South America. Maybe next year? Will consider your suggestions.
For next year was thinking of going to Alaska, but alone is kinda lonely! Will scrap that, yet with the right company, am still for it!
Did you read the book Ghost Rider by Neil Perth? Drummer of Rush, Worth reading. Am not a Rush fan, but the book is great!
About riding to Alaska!
