I bought a new 2011 r1200rt late last year... great experience!!! during my short ownership I managed to scrape up the stickers on the saddle bags ( I have the tri color ) so I went to the dealer to get new ones... charged me 75.00 per side ( I wasn't happy but I paid ).. picked them up on 5/24/11.. now one of them was damagted during the repair.. ( all my fault ) I called the dealer to get another 1..( not 2 ) he told me they are now $150.00 per side... he checked numerous places to confirm.$$. he gave me BMW customer line ( what a useless joke ) they took all my information and said to bad.. there is nothing they are going to do.. did you ask the guy who did it to pay??? ( like I need them to tell me that!!) Try BMW in germany.. no number .. no information... it may seem minor buts it will make it easier to buy the Trophy SE!!!

You think that is bad....the little stickers that say R1200RT on the upper fairings are $52.00 each. Amazing isn't it!

I was going to say that the $75. per side seemed like a good deal as far as BMW pricing goes.

I wanted to put that tri-color decal kit on my fairing until I saw the pricing.

Wanna hear something that might make it a bit better for you....here in Canada we pay anywhere between 20-30 % more than your U.S. pricing. On top of that we pay 13% sales tax !

gouging is correct. I got a price on tires + installation from my local dealer. I have been a customer of theirs since 2004. I then phoned around and got both tires installed + a new pair of SIDI Canyon boots for about the same price the dealer quoted me just for the tires.

I do as much work on the bike as I can. Transmission lube for a 2010 RT. $40+tax from the dealer - about $18 tax in from NAPA.

Yup, read my rotor thread! Also, the 3 year warranty is a limited warranty. Not really sure what is actually covered for 3 years.

Not sure of your part numbers but here is some stuff from MAX parts fiche:
Each
01 46 54 7 724 239 DESIGN DECAL, LUGGAGE CASE, LEFT $73.06
01 46 54 7 724 240 DESIGN DECAL, LUGGAGE CASE, RIGHT $73.06

01 46 54 7 724 239 DESIGN DECAL, LUGGAGE CASE, LEFT $73.06
01 46 54 7 724 240 DESIGN DECAL, LUGGAGE CASE, RIGHT $73.06
02 46 63 8 528 318 EMBLEM MARRAKESCHBROWN RIGHT 0.01 1 NA

02 46 63 7 724 182 EMBLEM SAPHIRSCHW-GRANITGR. RIGHT $44.80
02 46 63 8 528 322 EMBLEM MAGN.BE/MARAK.BR/LIGH, RIGHT 0
02 46 63 7 724 180 EMBLEM TITANSI-GRANITGRAY. RIGHT 1 $44.80

Still seem to be in the 75 buck range. I was pricing decals for the rear panel of a K bike and came to the same conclusion, expensive. And they go out of stock. If you have a bike you plan on keeping for a few years, buy what you think you need. I am re painting my k bike and wondering if the painter can do a nice job rather than decals. Money will probably be the same.

I recently saw a YouTube review of the RT. It said it was a fair deal at $30,000. The video was from Australia.

I met a woman who worked in a tailor shop who recently came from Pakistan (IIRC). She said prices were terrible there. They pay over 20% in sales taxes.

Compared to most other countries the US median income is higher, we have the widest selection of products available to us, our taxes are lower, and our prices are better. We are very lucky if we can pay $150 for a sticker! :bike:

Anybody here spring for the $85 qt BMW synthetic oil ? Must have gold particles in it or something. Obviously the dealership does not sell many. Most go for the ****** at way more reasonable price.

I guess they like to do the same thing over and over, yet expect a different result.

I am sure they know that the buyers of their bikes think stuff is too expensive. Obviously they don't care. Thing is, the dealer is the customer for the manufacturer, not us. For instance, Kawasaki recently created a policy that dealers couldn't advertise at anything less than list price as some online dealers were killing Stealers that wouldn't deal. So they complain to ma kaw and the policy appeared. I always thought that competition benefits the customer? Well, this tells who that is.

I see you are in Detroit. Which dealer are you using? I lived there for 15 years and had good luck with the East Detroit dealer. I think they are out on Van **** these days.
