The people and the information on this web site is great and would like to thank every one who joins in. my LT is a 2002 and several times I have come to this well of knowledge and it has been helpful ever time.
1) I followed the instructions layed out in the hall of wisdom for adding jack oil to my rear spring tensoner, worked great, I started with no resistance until almost 1/2 way down to tension started 1/4 the way down after the 1st attempt. Decided to try again and redo the process and it is like new, moves only 3/4 of a turn from top before tension starts on the adjuster. Being a big guy this is a great improvement for sure. The only thing I can add to the instruction is to mark the hose fitting to tensoner body position before you start so you do not have to loosen and reposition after when you fold it down. I used the old washers, had to check a few times to get it tight enough to stop weeping so watch that.

2) I had been noticing that when I put the bike up on the centre stand, it had a slight lean to the right, as well it was not returning to the up position all the time. Has been getting worse over the last year, checked it out, lubricated it etc, thought it was bent a little, you know how they get hit over the odd speed bump. This weekend, it seemed to be getting worse, so I pulled it off and found the cross bar was cracked 1/2 way through on one end. Took it to a welding shop, they ran a pipe through he pivot points and a straight edge along the feet and welded it up, Installed a reinforcement bar along the top of the cross bare and welded that to the legs and the cross bar for extra support. What a difference. First of all it it feels solid better than stock, has no flex, plus it is now 5 times easier to get it up on the stand because not wasting energy on the flexing part.
I would check your own bikes as a matter of maintenance , cause if that had broken it would not have bee pretty for sure. Hope this helps someone out there.

Hey, Darcy - thanks a bunch for the post. Got me to thinking seriously about both of those topics. I've not done either one, although I know I should. Procrastination is my middle name, so these'll get marked off the to-do list shortly.

Make your center stand easier to use

Same thing happned to mine except it finally broke all the way, I bought a replacement (e-bay) and during installation found out how the bushings are sealed with O-rings to prevent dirt from getting into them so I cleaned everything good, replaced the O-rings and lubed it up real good, what a difference! it jumps up onto the center stand now MUCH easier, of course the one with the button is still better but if yours is manual try the clean and lube thing it really makes a substantial difference.
