has someone here played with the timing on the motor? book says 6 befor tdc.
is that as much as you can get?:nerd:

That is just the static point. The ECU takes care of the rest. Mess with it and you risk detonation and fractured piston ring lands. Seen too many of those already by people that say "I run regular just fine in my LT". A broken ring will quickly destroy the Nikasil coating in the cylinder wall.

If you are looking for some performance enhancements, there i a guy talked about on another forum that burns chips with different maps for the k1200... engine. This doesn't mess with the base timing but the dynamic parameters as the bike runs.

I can't recommend this but if you want to take the chance on blowing up your motor or maybe not, you can get different chips for the motronic if you are so inclined.

what was the timing on that motor
It was at the factory spec and had never been adjusted - a little over 100K but ran quite a few times on regular.
