I have a 2003 LTE. Before I get started, I have already cut the brown wire!!

Now, much better than before the wire cut, but I still get some degree of hesitation upon acceleration. I believe it might be related to an old throttle that has been redesigned by BMW.....

Also the degree of right hand fatigue I endured in the North Carolina mountains was severe. I think my throttle is very tight as opposed to my other bikes. And there is that small hesitation that is nothing in freeway driving but was very noticable along North Carolina 28 and US 129!

Should my 2003 model already have this upgrade? How would I determine if it has?

I know this has been addressed before on this board, but I would really appreciate any knowledge anyone could give me.

A final note: My 2003 is still in warranty and will be until around Christmas this year. Is it likely BMW would take care of any of this?

Thanks in advance,

Tom

right hand fatigue :RE

It is worth the time and talk to your DEALER. Tell them the fatigue problem of your hand. The throttle up-grade you need is the late 05 throttle cables and hand grip cable twist. It is much beter than the just the up-graded cables.

Hope your dealer helps you out. I bought an 02 with 8k on it. Had extended warranty but dealer said throttle cables not covered. Mine were so stiff I was twisting the rubber grip 1/3 to 1/2 turn just to give it gas.

Hi, Tom - down near the bottom of this page are 5 info-related threads. Take a look at the first one listed. A lot of good info came out of that thread. You might be able to use some of it to plead your situation with your dealer (assuming you have one that will go to bat for ya, even tho BMW considers throttle cables as wear items). Good luck.

Thank you everone for your input. Dick, I will be sure to mention the service bulletin. Will call BMW of Atlanta first, but will call Blue Moon if the answer is not what I want. I was impressed with them at Brasselton.

The part numbers for the '05 Throttle Cable mod I made are as follows;
a) Throttle Cable: 32737694490 ($40.19)
b) Acc. Cable: 32737694491 ($56.79)
c) Twist Grip Mod Kit: 32727691990 ($24.19)

Look at the lower plastic cover on the throttle side handlebar of an '05 LT to see the new exit hole you need to cut in your existing plastic. This hole turned out to be directly under the swedged area of the front brake hose that runs down the throttle side handlebar. Good luck! I think you will be amazed at the positive results?
