Well the Harley has gone and Ive just got a RT1200 05 with 30k on, and full BMW Service History, Dark metallic Grey, got a good deal on it too! I have been lurking around a few months now, just doing the research, I dare say i'll have a few questions for you in time.
It takes a bit of getting used to after the big heavy glide, but i'll manage
Just waiting for the good weather now and we're good to go

I went from an FLHTK to an '11 RT. For local work, it's a far better tool; I have yet to take a long (500 mile plus) trip. I'm very pleased with my choice so far.

Mine's the same year and colour. I'm sure you will enjoy riding it as much as I enjoy riding mine.

Welcome, and at last spring is coming....

Congrats on the RT! I went from a K1200GT to a SuperGlide and back to BMW with this RT.

Give yourself a chance to get to know the bike for awhile and you will love it! It does everything so much better than the HD ever could. The only thing I'm thinking about changing so far might be the seat. After 300 or 400 milles, the "boys" are not happy, but then again after that kind of distance on the Glide my whole body wasn't happy!

I read another guys answer regarding why he made the change, he said he lost 200 lbs, doubled his HP and was enjoying a bike that could accelerate thru a turn like a sport bike, and cruise like a tourer!

I'd say that hits pretty close to the mark, have fun!

Yo... not only is my bike the same year, same color... My previous Harley was a Road Glide.

If you are short, thin and have grey hair with a mustache and goatee maybe we are doppelgangers?

Welcome on board. You have questions, we will have answers, guesses, and opinions....

Congrat's on your smart purchase. You are going to love this bike. It simply ROCKS!!!!

I too just came off a cruiser and love the sportiness of this bike. It ducks into curves like there is no tomorrow. And the HP is oh so fine. I too agree that on my cruiser my entire body hurt after 200-300 miles on it. But on my RT after 200-300 miles I am just getting started. Sometimes late at night I swear I hear voices coming from my garage. It's my RT calling for me to come out and play. Honest! :)

It really doesn't get much better than an RT. Maybe the new GT/L is better bike, but I doubt it's as nimble as the RT. I find the RT to be a complete bore around town or tavern hopping, but when you get it stretched out the slab, or in sweeping twisties it really shines. The engine is very docile and lacks excitement, but its not meant to be a Ducati either.

Thanks for the encouragement guy's, I will post pics over weekend, and I will get round to asking a few questions. Sorry Bob, no can do as a doppelganger, short, yes, slim, errr no, going grey, and i've had a shave
It's gonna need a set of tyres before I go to Slovenia in august, i'm going with the road pilot 3's, I reckon i'm gonna have to lower the pegs a little too, and maybe, just maybe put sum riser's on her, but I dont know which one's, need to come up AND back a little.
Did 145 miles on sunday and I would be desperate for fuel on Harley, but still showing 181 miles left and 60.1 MPG, WOW, bonus. I think i'm gonna love this bike :D

Congrats. I myself switched from an ultra to a 2006 RT and then purchased a 2012 RT. It has been almost a year and my wife and I are still amazed about how much better the RT platform is over the ultra. The number one thing I do not miss is the miserable engine heat.

Hi Ady, Might see you on the road somewhere as I live in Doncaster. Mine is an 05 with 32k on now and have enjoyed every mile of it. I see you have the aux lights also. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll see what I can do as I have had a couple of problems that you may need to know about.

Steve.
