When a guy next to me at a light today said "Man, that's the Cadillac of motorcycles!" I said, "Well, it's more like the BMW of motorcycles."

I'm not sure if he got it or not.

Eggmcmuffin of motorcycles?
See, I can't tell if that's a compliment or not...Because in my mind, it sounds like "It's the mediocre-flavorless-breakfast-filling-that-drops-cornmeal-bits-all-down-my-shirt of <insert item here>"

Probably either let it go because he felt his compliment wasn't appreciated, or suffers from DIS (Delayed Intelligence Syndrome) and a few minutes later thought "Crap! I shoulda said, ....." ;)

Took the elevator to the ground floor to go home the other day while wearing my riding gear. As the door close the doc who got in the elevator at the same time asked me if I ride the LT in the parking garage. Turns out he has a K1100. Enjoy your LT said he. It sure looks like a nice way to ride.

Shocked the heck out of me to have someone recognize the LT.

Okay.True story.
I pulled up next to the gas pump late at night, on the way home from work.
The gas kid says "I didn't know that BMW made motorcycles". (really)..So with a tired brain, I just said "they sure do".{oh damn....I just missed the perfect setup for the obvious answer}...............,,Now, fast forward about four years. We're traveling through central Oregon on the way back from the CCR. We stop for a break in the Dayville city park. Our LT is the only thing in the little gravel parking lot, when two BMW convertibles pull up, one on each side of our bike. (Oh My GOD)...Salvation !
I walked right up to one of the cars and said to the driver..........well, I'll be damned !

There was an auto accident on the highway yesterday. In the jam going up to it, I saw another guy in an LT. We acknowledged each other, and I got a chance to look at, essentially, my bike being riden by someone else.

They sure are pretty. :) I mean sure, it's obvious looking at it in the garage, but harder to see while in the seat, but in motion, it's a nifty thing.

Perhaps he still remembers when "BMW was the Volvo of motorcycles."*

When I was getting tags for mine, since I bought it out of state, a State Trooper had to go to the parking lot to verify the VIN with the title. It was parked in the first parking spot, she walked by it twice on her way out and way back in to ask where I'd parked it. The fact that I was holding a helmet too didn't clue her in and she also said "didn't know BMW made motorcycles"...
