Hopefully our Washington buddies got home okay.

How about a little rundown on how things went? I really wanted to go but, had a wedding and a funeral to attend.

Tech Session

Hi Brian,

Thanks for asking. The session started at 09:00 with Clayton and Lance arriving and we put Clayton's bike up on the "lift." Clayton was eager to get started so we started by removing the tupperware and getting down to serious business. By the time we had some of the left side apart John and Art showed up to lend a hand.

Clayton did most of the work himself (this is the focus of making the tech session available). With a valve check, air and fuel filter swap plus shift linkage service complete then we proceeded to drain the transmission and rear diff oil. After a nearly flawless oil drain without spillage (shameless lie) we refilled the units and the plastic replaced.

We rode with Clayton and Lance up to Kelso and dinner at the Azteca. Clayton sent me a message that all is well with his machine and he learned a lot. We be happy.

We had a great time having company. Pauline enjoyed having a garage full of guys talking guy talk. Thanks for bringing your new torque wrench to the session. John brought his too (and the never ending Newton Meter data. Where does he come up with those numbers?).

We had fun, and we will have to have another one again soon.

Thanks Ernie,
Sorry I had to miss this one. Sounds like you all had a good time.I have very limited room myself. A 10x 20 garage thats half full of stuff! I may need to host one in a month or so. I am awaiting my new throttle cables, need to change all fluids, and do valves. I have not done valves yet and I'm approaching my 36k service!!!

36K Inspection

Hi Brian! It really isn't that difficult checking those valves. Much easier than it sounds. Even if you have to change out some buckets. Heck even Clayton could show you how to check the clearances now! Let us know when you feel like doing them.

Heck! Even I could do it now! Well if I could bend over and then stand up again. Yep! Back is still whacked. I even stayed home yesterday and should have today as well.

Back Pain

Art, buddy, hope it calms down soon! BTDT too many times myself. Glad you were able to make it home Sat in the wet. That warm-up stop in Beaverton helped break up the LONG RIDE though! I enjoyed it.

Relics

Art,
Are we a bunch of worn out relics or what? I hope you start feeling better soon. I learn the fate of my right shoulder next Wednesday. It looks like I will be doing some maintenance on our LT during my convalescence. I'm thinking of making the following mods:

Throttle fix w/new cables
Handlebar cover mod for cables
Cruise Control Cable
Speedo mod
Plus:
Brake fluid change
Coolant change

Hey Brian,

Any of the new iPods will work with the ice>Link setup. You just gotta decide how much space you want versus how much you can spend. The rest of it is immaterial as the iPod just gets tucked away somewhere.

Of course, the new iPods now have full video capability, plus they now come in black. :D

Thanks Ken.
Hey Ernie, Is the cruise control cable separate from the two cables I ordered? I ordered the same two as posted recently. (05 mod) I hope your ailments work out okay.

Cruise Control Cable

Hey Brian, the CC cable is a third cable which is totally independant of the two Throttle Cables. It is quite short as it only runs from the CC Module under the nose fairing down to the Throttle Rail. I know cause mine failed last year on the way to Breck! And boy do you get used to that Cruise Control! Thank Heavens for my Throttle Rocker which allowed me to stretch those fingers out a little.

Yeah, we spoiled!

Yes Brian,

The cruise control uses a short cable. I don't have a part number for you though.
