My left latch hook does not open the same as the right hook, and my trunk latch does not completely close. I have read the threads about the pin wear (left pin does not turn and is grooved about 1/3 through). Is there any way to adjust the attachment between the latch and the latch hooks so when I pull on the latch both hooks open the same?

In theory, no -- the mechanism is a series of parallel plates, holes and pins that should force all of the parts to move exactly together.

Your description of unequal motion suggests that there is an excessively worn or improperly reassembled part in the mechanism. Time to remove the case liner and eyeball the parts as they cycle through their range of motion to see whether anything obvious is wrong. If nothing obvious appears, next step is to remove the tiny e-clips and remove the pins so you can remove the plates for closer inspection.

Hi!
I found the latch hooks very rough and seemed to grind on the pins on the case top. To end the grinding, I tried to smooth out the latch hook with some filing but without taking them apart it was a tough job, so I removed the two pins on the case top and installed two cotter pins with a slight bend in them. Now the case still locks with very little friction. This was an easy fix and maybe the latch mechanisim will last a little longer.

As a self-proclaimed EXPERT and owner/operator of that company that has designed and sells replacement LT Trunk Latch handles, I can tell you what the problem is.

The horizontal channel that actuates the hooks was built using "progressive stamping". A flat sheet moves into a stamping press and has some features stamped at its first stop. Then the sheet moves along in progressive increments where other stamping operations are subsequently performed.

So let's say first stop is punching the holes. The second stop is bending the actuating tabs and forming the channel shape. The holes in the actuating tabs got punched, then the tabs get bent 90 degrees. IF the BEND LINE isn't exactly in the same place relative to the other side, one tab (and it's hole placement) will be higher than the other!

THAT IS ONE of the problems! The other just being poor design! But the "non-synchronized" movement is caused by poor stamping tolerance, as written above.
