Season greetings fellow BMW riders!

On the whole my K100RS is trouble free, only requiring minor maintenance.
However, last Saturday I went a little too quickly over a speed bump and since
then my speedo has been intermittant. I've has a look and I can't see any
obviously lose wires or connectors. I even opened up the speedo pod and nothing
seemed a miss. Suggestions please and thanks in advance.

When I had the 85K100RT the connectors in the back of the instrument cluster would work loose and randomly cause the speedometer to fail. Another problem some of these had was the connectors on the inside of the cluster. These can work loose over time and cause the problem you are experiencing.

Could also be the sensor wire or the pickup is dirty on the final drive.

Ride the bike and see if the turn signals self cancel. If so, the sensor on the FD and the connection near the rear brake reservoir are good. Both times mine quit, the problem was corrosion in the connection.

Had same problem. Take all elect connections in pod and outside and twist the terminals (tiny bit) with small needle nose pliers then re assemble with never seize. Never seize is a great conductor. This worked on my last 2 k bikes
