Soft ware Update

I had the GTL in the dealer yesterday to get the new Soft ware updates installed. Mike (Lead Tech) said it took about an hour there was 6 or 7 updates. Most he said I will not even notice , just minor "tweaks" to the engine Management systems. The one update that you can tell in the Auxiliary Lights now remember the last setting they were on when you start the bike. Before You had to turn them on every time you start the bike. Now if you stop the bike with them on they some on at the next start. Not that big of a deal but I would be 45 minutes into an hour long ride before I would remember to turn them on. CRS is hell.

I just had that done and I guess that someone was listening. Nice to be able to leave them on and then forget um. I can't think of a reason to turn them off.
Did you guys notice after the update that the engine rpm spikes a little bit as you let the clutch lever out with the trans in gear? I don't recall my GTL doing that before the updates were done and I really don't like my bike doing that. It makes operation more difficult at very slow speeds. I have no idea why someone would think It is a good idea to automatically spike rpm at slow speed. Strange.....

I didn't notice it, but I'm heading out in a little while and I'll see if I'm aware of it.
No I did not notice a Spike but I only road the bike about 100 feet to my Trailer. YES I trailered it to the shop & then home later that day. Just a Perk of owning a Motorcycle Towing service. This time of the year I'm too busy to even ride much.

We'll look for your trailer on the way to Sturgis this year. :histerica
One thing I've noticed since having the update installed is a surging at about 2500 RPM. Not a problem on the road but it gets to be noticable while driving in town. I figure I'll mention it next time I'm in for service.
All these software updates ya'll mention makes it seem like the Windows 8 beta that keeps updating! Or worse yet, Adobe! :rotf:
Has anyone looked at the MPG on the display since the last updates? Mine now reads 235 mpg or something around that. I will have Morton's check it at the 18K service if they have time.
I'll check a little later, but it seems like you got the "Improved Mileage" update. That's supposed to remain a secret.

Just put about 130 miles on the bike & the MPG's are right on where they should be. I know before the first update (600 miles) I would get the same high MPG's you are now getting. It my be my imagination but it seams the throttle response is better then before this update.

God I love this bike. :bike:

I guess that is one of the gremlins that can come out with this update. BMW NL has instructed dealers to stop updating the K1600 because of the errors that may arise (faulty display readings, bc functions that stop working, ...).

I'm waiting for the update on the update and will have to do with the known problems that is supposed to be solved by the update ...
My bike was in the shop a week ago for it's 6,000 mile service and I think that all of the software updates were done. My only evidence is the fog lights now stay in the mode it was left in. I don't know if the updates are selective or it's all or none.

Everything seems to be working correctly.
