Well mine broke tonite 30 miles from home. I have it in a garage for now the threaded screw snapped off where it attaches to the shift linkage. Is this an easy fix? Looking at it I was wondering how the hell you would put it back together without disassembling half the bike. I checked the halls of wisdom but I have been away from the site for a couple of months I explain that later. What I am looking for now is just a quick how to so I can get my baby back home. Thanks in advance.

If you cannot get the parts to fix it quickly, just pull the side plate with the shifter on it, manually get it in third gear, and ride it home. Unless you stop it on a pretty steep up hill, it is easy to start out in third gear, and you can run the speed limit with NO problem in third. I was running 80 on the way home after I did that. The bike loved it. :D

This is really an easy fix and can be done roadside if you can get the broken off threaded part out. Better to manually shift it to third and ride home or a place you can work. Basically you just have to take the side cover off, just a few screws and it is off. The linkage can be disassembled and reassembled without too much contortion. Make sure you use locktite on the threads when you assemble the new parts and lubricate the ball joints. There is an after market kit for sale. Check the HOW, for $52.00 you get the long arm linkage with two permanently lubricated ball joints, a drill bit and screw extractor. I now carry spare parts just in case mine breaks again.

Good luck, sorry I don't have detailed instructions, but it is really pretty easy.
