Greetings everyone,
I'm hoping some of you might be able to help on this one.
When I start my 2006 R1200RT in the morning the shift indicator on the dash will stay blank. I can lift the shift lever and it will show going into 2nd, but when I kick back down it won't show N or 1st.
Once I've ridden for a bit everything will start showing normal.
Any ideas what could be causing this and should I be concerned?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The gear position sensor is a potentiometer that feeds the ECU. Suspect that it has become dirty or worn in the area of neutral and first. Not a cheap part but may be able to clean it.
