I have a short LED flashlight in the clip, it doesn't interfere with my sunglasses,
at least not when I pay attention where they are on the tray when I close the lid.

I thought the glove box was a perfect place for my J&M intercom connected to the 660 GPS. I use a touratech handlebar bag for the small things( gloves, garage door opener, tire gauge, flashlight, etc

Great place for the intercom. Have one of these also. How/where do you feed the cables out?

At the very bottom of the glove box is a rubber plug about 2" square. The box does not need to come off to do the install. All I did was remove the right upper (4 screws)and the right lower, then snap the air duct out of the way.

I cut a slot in the rubber and bunched all wires through that...no need to drill any plastic.

Went to the local electronics store and bought 2 - 6 pin jacks and 2- 6 pin plugs with 12 feet of 6 element wire to make the leads for the rider and passenger. The passenger lead comes out from under the seat at the left rear next to her accessory port. The rider lead is velcroed just left of the ignition key.

I did wire it in 12V using an eastern beaver 3cs and the 12V adapter for the integratr 4 on a switched circuit

Amazing quality for an $85 unit and a total install cost of $165.

I have one of them.
Useful for tyre pressure gauge, house keys, spare ear plugs and such like.
It just lifts out if you want to get under it.
Under it I have a recording device for my camera set up and a bit of space to lose a few other things should I want to.

It looks interesting but there's so much space in there and the insert mentioned seems quite shallow. I ordered this from my dealer.

It's the BMW radio bay insert for the RT. Is it any good? I have no idea. I'll let you all know once I get it.
Any word on how this is working out? Sure would be nice if the shallow insert fit on top of this, all I really use that compartment for right now is my maglite, maps and manual.

It would be great to organize it so I could put keys, glasses and such in there too!

I use dollar store pencil cases for sorting gear in the glove box and tank bag. They are every bit as effective as the expensive pouches sold by the specialist motorcycle accessory shops.

That may depend on the size and on the knowledge of using one ;)

Sorry, no word from the dealer that it's even in yet. I'm hoping it arrived and they forgot to call me, as usual. It would be good to have it for this weekend.

+1 :thumb:

Not to delve into the esoteric side of this issue but...you definitely want FREEZER bags as they seem to be more durable. I've found the Glad 1-Quart "Extra Wide Seal" bags to work well.

I used a motorcycle helmet bag for a while. Could actually put quite a bit of stuff in the compartment. Picked up the BMW sack liner. They could have really made it quite a bit larger and the lip of the sack more rigid. I can only fit my insurance, sunglasses and manual in there and it's all full. If you aren't careful, you can push the entire liner into the compartment.
