Motor running. Gear in neutral. Flip the switch to R. Press the start button. If you have problem with moving the switch from F to R rock the bike back or forward a bit.

Press and hold the starter button. The bike should reverse as long as the button is held. The starter motor is actually powering the bike and the engine RPM will rise slightly to increase alternator output to make up for the current draw. Since these are straight cut gears you may have to rock the bike a bit to get them to engage. Also there will be an illuminated "R" on the dash when you are in the reverse position.
