Here we go again. Originally had the problem of the reverse gear doing the intermittent thing. That somehow sorted itself out. Soon after I had the slave fail which entailed major surgery. Get Bertha back and now has developed a new gremlin. Reverse refuses to engage when cold. Start the bike in the morning, engage reverse, and nothing happens. Have to do the paddle foot dance out the garage. Once the bike is warm and thereafter for the day - reverse gear - no problem! Sounds like electricals not making contact when cold - what say you?

It could be some moisture from the air getting into a loose connection. I had a Toyota that would give me trouble starting in the morning but started easy in the afternoon. It turned out to be a cracked distributer cap allowing some moisture in overnight but drying out by mid day. A new cap and it was fine. I would check your connections and maybe put some dielectic grease on them.
