The Original Owner (AKA BOZO) did a lot of mean and strange things to my new to me LT.

ONE was to have the dealer install a hidden (powered) antenna and remove the old antenna and mounting bracket.

Unfortunately the powered antenna is terrible, either never worked or doesn't work.

I would like to go back to the factory antenna or a better aftermarket option..

Anyone got a suggestion?

I have not taken the top case off yet but I assume that parts 1-7 are what are missing.

As part 8 and 9 would still have to be in place for the aftermarket antenna to function.

I plan on taking off the top case and looking for the powered antenna soon...

You might find that the powered antenna may be disconnected. I have always heard that they are better than OEM as far as reception. I was actually planning on removing mine and replacing it with a powered antenna...now, I might have to rethink it. Let us know how it works out.

I bought a Tune Trapper, about $39. Call and as for the 16" prototype, which fits nicely UNDER the top case and works great. It is NON-powered but highly tuned. Works SOOO much better than the factory whip and no extra wires for power, etc.

Great service, fast shipping, great product.

I've got 2 extra antennas, with the brackets. If you're interested, PM me.

Just sent an email to Tune Trapper, because this sounds great. I recently replaced my dead radio with one purchased by a fellow member - thanks Lowell! :) - and, honestly, I'm not real pleased with the way the antenna works. The Tune Trapper seems to be a low cost alternative to fixing this problem! Thanks for your input!

Today I took the trunk off and found the little "antenna".

It has a power wire run to the fuse block under the pillon seat. The wire pairs up with a "wimpy" coax cable that runs up under the tupperware to I assume the radio.

Here is what it looks like...

The original owner paid the dealer $49 for the part and $250 for the labor..

Here is the link to the item I found

I have moved it up to under the drivers seat so that when I get a replacement sorted out I can easly remove this worthless "powered" antenna.

Calling Tune Trapper now...

Tony, was the standard 6' length cable good for your application?

Thanks

Paul
