Throwing a question out there to all you fellow LT owners. I know a few Goldwing owners that will put cardboard, blankets down on the ground. Then lay the bike down on it's rightside and remove/replace the rear wheel. Have any of you done this? It would not hurt anything do to pooling oil away from the head/valve train. Does seem easier do to hitches or extra lights being in the way. Just your thoughts.

No reason not to as long as you don't mind picking up the old girl when you are finished. I have a Bushtech hitch so I know what you mean.

You don't need to do that! When your LT is on the center stand the rear wheel will come right out the back. You remove the rear mudguard/license plate holder, 2 screws. Real slick.

Ooooops, you have a hitch! Sorry! As Gilda Radner used to say, "never mind"

I think the OP might have a trailer hitch in the way. Personally I'd just do the work and remove the offending equipment that is in the way.
