hello there,

while washing my LT today i was hearing music from a cd and all of a sudden the radio switched off. I turn the key on again and i pressed the ON button to switch it on again only to switch off again by itself maybe after 15-20 minutes.
Whats the reason for that? Is there any system to prevent battery drain?

My bike is a 2008 model.

Thanx for any info.

I don't know about the 15-20 minute shutoff, butt there is a 2 hour shutoff when the bike isn't being ridden - just listening to the radio. For more info, read this thread.

May not be related but there is a setting in the radio menu for "TOUT" and, on the 05 at least, with TOUT "on" the radio cuts out after 2 hours even if you are riding the bike. I turned TOUT "off" and now the radio will stay on forever.

You get to the setting with the radio off and the key in the "R" position. Turn the radio on and hold the "MAN" button. You will see the SVOL setting appear, keep holding the button until the radio serial number appears. Then you can use the "Seek" button on the handle bar controls to step through the menu. When you get to TOUT select "off" with the +- buttons and see if that helps with your issue.

This is a little off topic but hopefully I'm missing something that someone can help me with. Is there a way to listen to the radio with the bike switch off? I don't like to listen to it with the bike switched on because there is a clicking type noise from the ABS system or something and the head light is on.

My 2007 does the same. I was also washing mine yesterday and the radio went off before I finished washing the bike, probably after 20 minutes or so.

Probably not the most correct way to do it, but I turn the bike on, turn the radio on, turn the bike off. The radio stays on... but only for 15-20 minutes.

My '05 operated differently: the radio could be turned on without first turning the key on, and it would stay on until I turned it off. I'm sure it's a setting, as is being discussed in this thread.

With the key in the "R" position you can turn on the radio.
