I just purchased an '07 K1200LT. This is my first BMW. I don't know if it's because it's newer than my other bikes were and has fancier electronics or what, but I can't even figure out how to get music to come out of the speakers on this bike........LOL
My wife and I had hoped to have music to listen to on our trip tomorrow.
We have J & M headsets in our helmets that we used with the old bike, but need a different connector cord for the BMW.
I've read through the manual and know what all the buttons are. Tried the radio and a CD.
When you push the button to turn up the volume, it says "SPEAKER" on the screen.
Was able to figure out how to change the station and everything, but can't figure out how to get sound.
Any ideas on what to push to make things work????

Welcome to our corner of the Web Ed! I have an older LT so my Comm Set is different than the newer ones, but ours has a push button that causes the radio output to toggle between the headsets & the speakers. I am sure someone with the newer VOICE system should chime in here soon, don't lose hope!

The disk shaped control on your left control cluster is a dual function control. The up-down arrow directions adjust volume on the radio. The left-right sides make other adjustments depending on what functions for the radio have been selected. When nothing else is selected and showing on the radio screen, it adjusts the station selection. Press the button on the radio control panel that looks like a music note and you get various functions to adjust. With the speaker "on" or "off" showing....toggle the disk left or right and the display will switch to the other setting....off to on for example. Similarly, you can adjust bass, treble, speaker balance, etc. When speakers are set to "on" you should hear sound from the speakers.

Good luck.

Thanks JD! Got sound coming from my speakers now.
Took 10 years off my life when I turned the speakers on...........seems we had the volume turned WAY up when they came on all of the sudden.
Thanks for the info.

Wait until you hit the horn the first time ... inside of a garage. I did that during my first state inspection (hadn't used the horn yet) and the mechanic about had a coronary.

Ed,

This site has lots of great info for both the new and well seasoned reader. If you go to the upper right on the main page you will see a Technical heading, click to see dropdown list and select Hall of Wisdom.

You will find the answer to your question there as well as from the great folks on the forum. Guess how I know you will find your answer there.

BTW: Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new ride.
