What do the letters "R' and "RT' stand for? I would think that the "T' means Touring but it is only a guess.
Thanks

According to Wikipedia (google Wikipedia BMW History of motorcycles, the following is just an excerpt, I hope I am not breaking any copyright laws.

C - Cruiser

GS - Gelände Sport Off-road Sport (Enduro)
GT - Gran Turismo or Grand Touring
LT - Luxus Tourer (Luxury Tourer)
R - Road or Roadster - typically naked
RS - Reise Sport (Travel Sport)
RT - Reise Tourer (Travel Tourer)
S - Sport

The only thing you left out Sky is the motor designation, which would make me correct, prefix R=boxer, prefix K=4cly, f=1 lung.

Hmm - I think it may be more complicated than that.

Isn't the F800 a two-cylinder? and I'm pretty sure the new six cylinders are K bikes.

Well, for the foreseeable future, all that matters to me is that R is boxer.
