After changing out the front Metz and going for a quick test run one of Twinsburg Ohios finest pulled my over to day for doing a wheely on the 02 LT.
flat out told him he was nuts he said he saw me do one I told him He better have it on dash cam for court. Told him was not possible with factory clutch assembly as the bike is 900 punds and I am close to 300 lbs. He ran the plate then let me go.
I was laughing all the time he was running the plate.o :histerica
I must have filled the tire with helium.

I saw a video link on this site sometime showing an LT doing wheelies, 180 turn, another wheelie, 180, wheelie, etc., etc.,all in a small space arena or parking lot. I cant find the link, or the forum post about it, or I would post the link. It looked like he hit his top case on every wheelie. Someone on the forum may know how to find that link. Of course, he may not have weighed 300 lbs, or if he did, he may have sat on the passenger seat, then hopped forward to get the front back down. I hope someone remembers that video link, it may have been on U-tube.

Glad you got out of the ticket. I loved my '02 LTC. Based on looks alone I like the front of the pre 2005's. With the scoops it looked more aggressive.

You might notice that the windscreen is removed. I am sure that is not all that was removed from this Bike!

probably not much. I wouldn't doubt they packed the top case with weight.

Fewer parts to replace when the wheely goes awry.

No mirrors to pick up after the front wheel slams back down?

OK, now let's have the whole story!! What were you "really" doing, and/or what do you think the LEO saw? C'mon, you can trust us! Really.... :rotf:

Hey, my guess is that the Leo just wanted a closer look at your bike. They have boring days just like the rest of us.

I had a stop saturday as I met a Leo on a 2 lane, speed limit is 60 mph and I ,per usual, had the cruise set on 70 mph and the last time I checked, that makes the bike go 65 (that's according to my GPS). He spun around and pulled me over and his first words were, "did you know you were speeding at 72 mph". I did as you did............I began to chuckle. LOL I know I'm getting old, but I really doubt I was going faster than the speedo said. Next time I'm out, I'm going to check it again with my GPS. Of course I didn't have it on the bike saturday. Again, I think he just wanted to see the bike for he commented on it being a BMW when he brought my drivers license back to me and asked me to slow it down a bit. and to have a good day!

Ain't life GRAND?? :bmw:

the picture of the guy doing the wheelie I believe was that French trick riding specialist that BMW had showing off the bike when it was still new. He said he could wheelie anything, and from seeing him ride I believe it. He said he had to remove the windshield otherwise it would hit him in the face when he picked her up.

I too think there is another story to be told.
But I caution you be careful what you admit to without a lawyer :histerica
Plus he may not have had his dash-cam on but what if someone out in the crowd got you on their cell-cam or video and wanted to scoop you.
Personally I think LT riders are too smart to do that on the street if they have not perfected it first in private. Ohio finest would not need proof if you splashed and made the evening news then the officer and all his buddies will be :histerica :histerica :histerica
ride safe :bmw:

Just another thug looking to make an excuse to stop you and shake you down. If you ride, you're going to run into these multiple times.

wheelies?

not impossible.

just not recommended. =8-o

my 2000, which is finally broken in -- @ 60,000 k miles -- will pull power wheelies in 2nd and 3rd gear if the revs are in the fat stuff during back road chicanery.

i'll feel the bars go loose in my hands as the bike goes through the power peak -- (wheel off ground) -- and then firm back up (wheel back on ground) as acceleration catches back up with power.

OK - so i'm not leaving scratches on the top case or any of that stuntah stuff, but a wheel in the air IS a wheel in the air. ;-)
