Programming new FOB

3801 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  patroa1
Okay, I did search and didn't seem to find anything relevant, so here goes.

I have an operating bike (2002) that had 1 key & fob. Immobiliser is activated and to me a PIA. I tried finding the wire / plug to jump to reprogram, but can't find it. Any pics of this available?

Also, I bought an extra key & fob. Is there an easy way, having one working fob, to program the new one?

Try here http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64874&highlight=programming , and go to post #2. I didn't read it but it should help you out. Also if you get the manual from BMW it tells you how to reprogram the alarm using the FOB.
Those (broken links in post #2 look down further) are for the 05 and up alarms. I have never done the earlier bikes so maybe some one will chime in on the location of that pesky jumper.

Maybe these will help.

Yes, thats what I discovered. I need something applicable to an '02.
Dave, the wire you want is taped to the right hand frame just behind the battery. It has a purple plug on it . Hope this helps.

First I want to thank all of you who have responded. What may be simple once you know, is really baffling me. I am confident I can do what I want once I find the right item!

I have looked in the areas directed and can't seem to find the right wire or plug. Is this a big round plug with a cap on it and a number of pins? If not, I can't seem to see it. Have looked directly behind the battery and for items taped to the frame. Alarm / immobiliser works, so I know it must be there, right?

Anyone have a pic of what I am specifically looking for?
Dave, it's not the big round one. The right one is taped up in the area of the two cable ties and underneath the frame rail. I'll try to post pic later this morning. It really is tough to find as they have it really taped up.
Ok just a clarification the wire you want is further back( my bad) on the right side, here is a picture of what you are looking for. You most likely will have to remove pillion seat.
