Hi to all. I am considering purchasing a almost new 2015 K1600 GT in great shape with only 215 miles. I am not new to motorcycles, *(I have 8 already, yes 8!) I have done my homework and do realize that it does not have some great features that a new 2018 has, (Reverse option, quick shift, etc)

But the savings is very significant and it has ultra low miles. I did run a paid VIN check and it came back clean in all area. It has the Safety package, Premium package, GPS and I'm not sure if it has the ABS Pro or if it was offered on a 2015? I have a touring bike and a Sport touring bike already

and trying to justify this BMW is a bit hard. *I do mostly all single rider so the GTL is not for me. I do realize that this bike is the pinnacle of tech evolution in big touring bikes and nothing comes close to the 1600 series. I did test drive a 2016 locally and it did not disappoint.

The tech end of this bike will not be lost on me. I "Get it." The Dealer said because I have a BMW i8 car already I get some kind of discounts if I buy new??? (*Explain?) Anyway, I do know that some "Options" after the buy would be in order. Taller windscreen, engine guards and ???

The bike is priced well below NADA and this might be the ultimate 1 up touring machine?

You might want to pose your questions on this site's sister forum;, the K1600forum.com as there are many experienced GT owners that would be happy to respond. My '16 GTLE doesn't have reverse gear or the quick shift like the new models have, but my LT had reverse and I don't miss it at all. The 6 has a phenomenal engine and that is what won me over. When I bought my '16, BMW was offering a $500 discount for buyers that chose to join the BMW Automobile Club for $50. It was well worth it, and I just chucked the BMW Auto Club monthly magazine, as I have no interest in their cars. I do mostly single riding and went the GTL/GTLE route as I prefer their riding position over the GT. Good luck on your decision. :sun:

I just bought a 2016 new gtl and I am glad I did. So let me tell you what I think about new or used. I went new because this is a 30,000.00 bike new.(2017) I got a left over (2016) for 23,000 and with the bmw finance deal with the balloon payment i pay 340.00 per month with the balloon payment of 11,500.00. The dealer told me in 3 years i can tun it to them and get a new one for around the same payment or I can sell it for 14 or 15k. The bike met all my expectations and more. I have a ninja 1000 and this is just as much fun . The great thing about the gtl is you can take off the bags when you want to ride single. My only negative is after 4500 miles I show a lot of wear on the tires. So that is going to cost me in the next couple of months.

Until the end of August anyone who owns a BMW car or motorcycle gets 1000 off bikes. Some bikes are more heavily discounted right now. I suspect in a couple of months you should be able to get several thousand dollars off a K1600. The discount on S1000XR's is 4000 right now. BMW does not want to be stuck with last year's bikes late into the Fall like they were last year.
The bike you're looking at certainly has low miles. Even though it is not up to it's 600 mile check up I still would change all the fluids right now, including brake fluid. Life is short, don't hesitate on motorcycle purchases. >

My only negative is after 4500 miles I show a lot of wear on the tires. So that is going to cost me in the next couple of months.

Sky, I offer my opine as an owner of two K1600-GTL's (one is an Exclusive).
215 miles is NEW! Except for the age plan to spend around $1K for a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty that becomes effective AFTER the factory warranty does.
The GT is more flick-able and has a forward leaning sport seating position and is not particularly comfortable if you plan on driving two up. I ride two up 90% of the time so the GTL was a must.

The reverse is not an issue because I just don't park myself in a position where needing it is required.
The HILL ASSIST is the best option that I love in the mountains, the 2015 may or may not have it. If not possibly a software update could dependent on the ABS unit.
