On Saturday morning Oct 15 we are gathering at Pathway Church at 11am for a ride to Pioneertown. It's about 60 miles from Redlands to Pioneertown, which is near Yucca Valley. We will have a meal there, check out the town and return to Redlands.

Our meeting place is 611 E. Cypress Avenue, the corner of Redlands Blvd and Cypress Ave. From the west, take the 10 Fwy to Redlands, University exit, right to Cypress and right to the light - that's Redlands Blvd. From the east on the 10 Fwy take the Cypress Ave exit and go left to Redlands Blvd. The church is on the right.

Everyone is invited and it's OK to bring a friend. We have both couple and single riders with many brands of bikes.

Last Saturday my wife and I took the ride to Pioneertown. It was a little warm on the way, but nice there. They advertise always being 15 degrees cooler than Palm Springs. It was in the low 80's and a beautiful day.

We ate at PAPPY & HARRIET'S PIONEERTOWN PALACE. I don't care how you cut it, it was no palace! It's quite rustic. Large barn-type doors open to the outside. There is an area of tables in the packed sand outside and lots of sand on the floor inside. We ate inside in order to be out of the sun. While we were eating another couple came in on a bike. We enjoyed chatting with them.

The menu is limited but the food is good. Melva had a salad and I had a southwest chicken sandwich. Most items on the menu are $8. The portions are large. The cheese fries are a bit of a heart stopper, but great.

The waitress said that Sundays is the motorcycle day. Sometimes there are 60 bikes in the parking lot. Oh yes, the parking lot. It is not paved. I plan on bringing a dozen or so pieces of wood to put under our stands. The sand is packed but I'd not like to have to lift the LT after a meal. We are going on a Saturday, they are expecting us, and it should not be busy.

If you're interested to know about the weather you can check with the weather channel web site google "weather." Pioneertown (one word), CA is listed with a full report.

Looking forward to the ride on the 15th!

I'm headed out of town on Tuesday and will not return till Friday. I've had no questions about the ride next Saturday. I will be able to answer emails/posts tomorrow. The ride is on, looks like we will have great weather, and there will be a good number going. No LT's (other than mine) for sure - YET! You don't need to contact me unless there's questions. Just show up Saturday at about 10:30-10:45 Saturday morning with a full tank of gas and ready to travel. Have a great week!
