I was considering doing this. I removed the rear seat. Next thing I knew I had pulled the hoses off the cannister without removing the top box.
Vented the right side over, plugged the left side. I left the canister in place.
I'll remove it whenever (if ever) I have the top box off. I don't see a problem...............(?)

What do the experienced folks have to say about this method of deactivating the cannister? Sure sounds easier than removing the top box.

You could stow an air pump or tool box with your "rearely needed" parts in case things get so bad you "need" them... of course that's 4 screws to remove the box..

It seems if you don't need it, remove it... now or on the side of the road with your wife/riding buddy saying... "are we there yet?"
