I have had an 1150RT for almost 3 years and in that time have found 3 different ways to cover my rear tyre in oil:
1) not seat the donut gasket on the valve cover correctly.
2) blow a seal in the rear suspension
3) perforate a crown gear seal in the final drive

So I get no surprises, are there any more ways to oil a rear tyre?

Door #3, you are experiencing Crown Wheel Bearing failure probably. If it is, be sure to have the mechanic RE SHIM and not just replace the original shims for the bearing pinch. Not all bearings are exactly the same and the original shim job is suspect anyway at this point.
