The '08 LT I have has developed a oil leak on the top of the swing arm of the final drive the dealers told me that it would eventually run down the arm, getting down onto the brakes and tyre. Apparently its the gearbox seal which was discovered at 19,000 miles.

I have brought the seal which is cheap and the job to change it is difficult from what little I have found, my questions are where can I find more infomation on changing the seal and could this be something very serious.

Thank you

My question would be to the dealer, why is this not covered under warranty for an '08 bike?

I have had a look at the warrenty now after your prompts and its does state the pinion shaft oil seal, output shaft seal, front crankshaft seal, rear main oil seal and others I don't know if one of those but I have called the dealership and will wait for the reply. They had a trainee on the day I took my bike in to have it serviced and he didn't point out that it was covered. I will know soon. Thanks for the replies.

The dealership is going to replace the seal under warranty.
That's good news.

Why don't you fill out your profile so we know who and where you are:)
