It has a dry clutch, so no need for any specific oils.
Just treat it like an automobile engine.
Take care not to slip the clutch unless necessary as you will wear it out faster, just like you would in a car if you slipped the dry clutch.

I give it just 500-750 rpm or so and let it out, once engaged, yee haw!

On my 2009 1200LT is it a dry clutch or a wet one? Just wondering if I need the BMW oil.
Dry as has already been mentioned. No, you don’t need BMW oil, but it isn’t true that any car oil will do.

You can treat this like a car engine as long as that engine is a 60’s hemi. Engines with conventional flat tappets, not roller tappets as in almost all modern engines, need higher levels of ZDDP if you want the cam and lifters to have a long and happy life. Most motorcycle specific oils will contain appropriate levels of ZDDP. Most car oils rated after SL do not have high enough ZDDP levels.
