My Problem is 25 years of driving a cage has my reflexes bent by vehicles with 5000-6000 rpm redlines. The bike will come on cam and my brain will be saying 'okay, time to shift' and I'll look down and find I'm still 1000 rpm away from redline.

If you are winding it out shift on the rev limiter, very fast once you get used to it and you do not have to take your eyes off the road - always wound my Jetta standards out to the rev limiter once in awhile
