We got a perfect day for a ride yesterday so I pulled the LT of the garage for the first time in months. I’m a newbie to these LT’s and only got to put a few hundred miles on it before putting it away for the winter.

The few miles I did put on it last year was spent getting acquainted with the bike so I never really tried cranking it up thru the gears before yesterday. What a thrill! I never imagined this big bike could move like it does. I started form a dead stop and decided to wind each gear out to 6k. When I hit 6k in 4th gear I glanced over at the speedo and was going well over 90mph, I decided not to find out what 6k would get me in 5th. Just had to share the experience with you all, I feel like a young kid again today.

Cool Steve, congrants on the new to you ride. Where about in Ohio did you manage to avoid the speeding ticket?

I’m only two miles from the Pennsylvania border, so when I get the urge, I head east. Getting caught in Ohio at that speed will get you a ride in the mans car and your bike impounded, in PA it’s just a ticket and your on your way again.

My Problem is 25 years of driving a cage has my reflexes bent by vehicles with 5000-6000 rpm redlines. The bike will come on cam and my brain will be saying 'okay, time to shift' and I'll look down and find I'm still 1000 rpm away from redline.

If you are winding it out shift on the rev limiter, very fast once you get used to it and you do not have to take your eyes off the road - always wound my Jetta standards out to the rev limiter once in awhile

First gear is good to about 62 MPH!! Keep her in 2nd in the twisties between 7-8,000 rpm for some real fun.

The purple Kool Aid is oh so sweet!

Mr Z knows of what he speaks. I bounced off the Rev limiter a few times going downhill 2nd gear in the twistiest. Scared me big time. I was afraid I had broken it.

Just wait 'till you hit some twisties! You can run her at 6-7K through them, and pretty much just back off the throttle when you nee to slow down. So, as you exit the corner, you can get into the throttle and receive GUSTO! from your LT.

Glad you mentioned the twisties. I've never had a machine that handles like this LT when going thru them. I'm so used to my vintage bikes where you need to use some Kentucky windage to pick your exit location that this LT is messing with my head. It just goes exactly where ever I choose with no drift at all. It's weird but I'm loving it.
