Does the 2005 and newer LT's have improved low speed handling compared to previous years? I had a 2000LT that I traded on a Heritage Softail because I dropped the LT with the wife on. She wouldn't get back on it after that. However after owning this Harley for 18 months, it has to go. Ok it is lower and easier to ride 2 up but that is about the only thing positive about owning it. I assume that the weight is the same but does the bike carry it different?
I sure miss the LT and would like to get another.
Thanks for thoughts and go easy on me for the Harley trade!!

I rode an '01 and had similar issues until I took an LT course that increased my confidence. Now understand that '05's and up have shorter rake and lower seat height to improve your footing and manouverabilty. I will be picking up my '06 soon as weather permits so I can advise you better then. In any case some confidence inspireing lessons will still go a long way since I see a lot of bruised bumpers on all model years.

yup.. the 2005 I own rides better, to me, than the earlier models. There were engineering changes.

Now, just be aware, any drop is bad.. but with my bride aboard, well, that's not cool... but not the bike's "fault".. it is mine. Remember to always stop with bike vertical and plan placement of your feet BEFORE you stop... etc, etc..

At one point I had both an 03 and an 05 in my garage and rode them both on the same day. I can tell there is a big difference when coming to a stop on the 05; it feels a lot more stable and less wobbly at low speed, whether solo or 2-up.

Oooo. THE time not to drop.

Back to your question - our 07 is MUCH more stable at low speeds than the 02 was. I also echo the suggestion to take an advanced riding course - ERC from MSF is a great example. With a little practice, I can do very slow speed maneuvering - even to steering stop - in both directions.

I could not tell any material difference when swaping out my 05 LT to my buddies 03 as he wanted to try mine...
