Just picked up my 2004 LT with the Electric Stand and love the ride. Apart from the rattle that I get through the foot peg's when I hit corrugation's, it feels like something is not secure. I feel the vibration through the pegs. Like there was a spring mount missing from the muffler or the like. Or the center stand is bouncing. Any Ideas????

Well first the 2004 year did not have electric stand that happened in 2005.
So wondering if someone installed one, can be done, on your bike. If you press a button on the right handel bar to use it then it is most likely factory.
As for your vibration you might check if the muffler is loose, sometimes the exhaust bolts have been know to loosen. Is the vibration there under power or coasting?

John, it appears that the upgraded model appeared here in 2004. Mine was built in July. As for the vibration, it is not under power or under brakes. It appears when I ride over any slight uneven surface. Even a cateye can produce the vibration. As stated, it is really evident in the foot pegs. I have only had it 5 days, but have already put 500+ k,s on it. Maybe I am being parenoid and need to let me and the bike get to know each other better.
I will take on board the muffler comment. That is the sort of issue I was thinking about. The bike had been idle for a number of months before I purchased it and it would appear that the last owner was not a regular rider. I however cannot wait to get back out there.

Great forum by the way. Have been watching and learning for some months prior to my purchase.

Just get a rubber hammer and start banging around on the exhaust... It's probably the hanger... The spring has a tendency to rattle... You'll get quite the buzz around 4500RPM.. That means, Let's go faster... Buzz goes away shortly thereafter and this is when it will start pulling hard....All the way up to the rev limiter... The real power is above the buzz...

They all do it....Really they do....

John, you were right about the foot pegs. I have running boards for the pillion which were not tight enough to stop them rattling. A quick adjustment and a test ride, and all seems fine. DOH!!!! :(

Thanks.

Hi all,
Just an update on the rattle. I got the dreaded slave cylinder leak. Stripped the girl down, (problems there but will put that in another post) bottom line, found that the tailshaft spline was ceased. I mean no movement no how. Lots of penetrating ail and heat finally released it.
Bike is now back on the road and the vibration that I was experiencing has gone. The whole ride is much smoother. Looking forward to see how other aspects of the ride improve.
