I just picked up a used 2001 K 1200 LT and will be taking it into have service performed. The BMW serviceman asked me about the ABS system, since I mentioned that the previous owner had just changed the brake pads.

How do I know if I have the integral ABS. I have no light on the dash that blinks, even though I do have an ABS indicator. Should this light up and blink when the ignition is turned on? Or do I have the old style of ABS? How would I know?

The quickest way is to look at the lettering on the front calipers. If they have Brembo on them, then you have the ABS II , non-linked system with no power assist. The Integral brakes all have BMW on the calipers.
